BMI Reparations

Hands up if you think reparations-that's compensating Black people for the consistent open ended robbery that is systemic racism, colonialism, etc., is super unspeakably radical/militant? Well, in the words of our US bretheren, you can just sit your punk ass down.

I've just caught up with an attempt by certain outfits to construct another fatty reparations model. The inversion being fat people will end up paying to be discriminated against-discrimination is robbery- as usual. Few pay more for being than fat people. We've paid and continue to pay; mentally, psychologically, physically, financially, healthwise, socially, in terms of quality of our relationships, and with our own self esteem and so on and so on. We've enriched liars and grifters at every level of society, professional and charity, governmental and private sector to degrade, butcher, mutilate and starve and run us ragged, only then to be blamed for the failure of the noose around our necks.

That's not enough though, now we have the prospect of being traded as a sort of loss commodity through a proposed system of rating companies by certain purported health measures, majoring in BMI measurements. Specifically, how many employees are in the "at risk" category, given the agit-prop produced by "obesity researchers" associating fat/ter people with lowered productivity.

The consistency and unchallenged nature of this wretched cult and its complete failure of a strategy- CRIWL means increasing the avenues to monetise discrimination. A huffpo article states this move by the "wellness industry"-yet another industry created off our backs- taxes business but that will be passed on to fat people, it already has.

You get robbed, then you get taxed for being robbed because everyone supports the construct making this possible,
It does inadvertently put a target on employees’s backs who are dealing with obesity,”
Always accidental isn't it? In fact it is the 'obesity' construct which put not only a target but imprisons people in discrimination-full stop. I'm sure you can tell from the "dealing with obesity" where that's coming from. Those who also support the construct causing these problems. It's a tribute to the barely challenged nature of 'obese' that you can present yourself as on the side of fat people, whilst upholding the basis used to royally fleece them.

Furthermore, if you're interested, this target is being painted on all our backs using this as the entry wound. Those fat people who claim to adore slimz need to start thinking very carefully about allowing themselves to be an instrument in their downfall,
[The]....federal government is already taking the first step towards endorsing this Fat Tax by allowing companies to require employees to hand over genetic information as part of wellness programs.
When I first got into the fatsphere, I made the observation that 'obesity' was a threat to all our civil liberties. Increasingly that poison is spreading. All fat people need to start taking this into account. It's not simply about you anymore. Similarly for slim people who feel immune to the discrimination they're supporting for others, its going to bite your acceptable behind too.

Anyhoo, reparations, eminently mainstream, until it comes to certain folk obvs......

Bodies Must Not be Made Obscene

Do not pathologize bodies. Pathologizing bodies, pathologizes people. Size is not a diagnosis nor the absence of one. Over and again rinse repeat.

The advance of this body politicking where the let's face it envy of those who do not feel they're slim or thin enough is barely hidden behind concern-trolling oneupmanship of calling thin people, "unhealthily thin."

Save any thin tears though. This is aided and abetted by the insistence that weight is a choice, this easily slides into one you need to answer for. If you insist that is so for fat people, then you define it as being so for anybody thin or otherwise. The surprise for thin people was that they thought it had been agreed this was only for fat people.

But an idea this dominant-one made to explain everything about weight- is bound to spread, resentments and jealousies drive it to be "weaponised."

I expected this experience to put off most thin people. Apart from an admirable minority nope. Most of them keep on with this 'obese' is bad, failing to see the noose they're making for their own bodies.

Encore un peu, the fashion industry is peopled by certain classes. Any implied or actual worship of thinness or anorexia has its basis in said classes. They are the producers and the disseminates of both, required slimness and anorexia as the route to achieve it.

Ergo, pointing to the rag trade/advertising and its more glamourous workers as causative of middle/upper class mayhem is a way of evading this reflection of avoiding social (class) and often personal commitment to the thinspo ideal.

The desire is to salvage this standard whilst wanting to appear to distance oneself from it real life consequences. A bit like when we're told we must strive endlessly to "lose weight" but not to go to extremes.

The brutality of supporting something associated with harming the daughters of such groups is worth pointing out, especially when no one seems to have any trouble with the idea that working class people are carelessly killing their children with fatness.

A lot of apocryphal ob-related accusations are just confessionals bursting forth. The infamous "promoting obesity" springs back to mind.

This whole currency of thin is pretty ruthless, trying to turn certain bodies into obscenities is part of that mess. The Muslim world is supposed to be so inexplicable in its cloaking of the female body. What then is expected of thin and fat bodied people, apart from cover up and wear baggy clothes? Or presumably go into hiding until they fatten up/slim down?

Bodies are not the cause of anorexia or other hunger/eating disorders, but even if they were, that's got to be a matter for the afflicted person concerned. Even children must learn to live with different bodies. No one should feel they have to be protected from their personal response to other people's bodies, as if it is the fault of those bodies.

It's another example of the extraordinary extent to which slimstream can externalise its personal dramas, whilst claiming ob is where that behaviour is epitomised. Not so.

It's preposterous-and always has been-for the educated middle/upper classes to claim that they cannot explain to their daughters [and sons] that it is not up to them to attain the body of a (thin) model. That their duty to their body's and therefore their own needs supercedes any urge to impersonate others. That these models are often picked precisely for their genetic attributes.

That is what fashion pays them for.

Admittedly, that's a whole lot harder if you insist on teaching them that weight is pure choice. And that proto-anorexia is "healthy weight loss." Why then shouldn't modelling [or looking like one] also be a choice for an achievement-orientated, social currency trading bourgiebot?

Tell them it is not a good idea for anyone, including them, to try achieve this artificially-at least until there's a way to reverse weight that is benign.

How's that harder than putting your whole family on a life sentence slimming and exercise regime?

As it is, I see nothing wrong with the models on show here, all waving their hands in the air like they just don't care, whilst being thin. Some people still genuinely are [no names]. They're hardly portraying the picture of youth expiring for want of energy.

They seem to be around that post-puberty, thinner than they maybe later stage.

Let them be

Real Before and After

Ashleigh Shackleford's two-fingers at the "before" and "after" meme reminded me of the mis-directed desire to display the shift from surrender to the 'obese' construct to embracing your being.

Instead of pretending fatness is a choice, when it rarely is.

This is a better way.

There needs to be more disrupting of before and after. I'd like to see one with a fat person looking really miserable, hangdog in dowdy ratty clothes as "before" self acceptance. Then an "after" of them feeling better, either in the same clothes or ones that reflect change.

They don't have to smile, just reflect the internal shift. From puppet, to agent, from ventriloquist dummy to fully alive.

We're so caught up in viewing ourselves from the outside/in, a volatile position that lends itself to tumbling into the momentum of neurotic disorder, that we forget just how much we can see of a profound internal shift within from the outside. Our perceptions are and can be even more subtle. This in itself could become a visual antidote to framing outer tinkering as some kind of spiritual shift.

I watched a programme about a cosmetic surgery clinic and the owner said it was purely about psychology. In other words, it's all about changing the way a person feels inside.

It doesn't have to be two pictures. It could be before, during and after!! Could be a whole strip of images reflecting an internal shift in theme, reflecting the fact that life isn't one/two, a pretence of happy ever after revealed in public, unravelling in private, but a continuous stream-of-consciousness.

Expect all to be appropriated by diet shills though.

Inside Every (Desperate) Person is a Fat phobe Waiting for Release

Most people lead lives of quiet desperation. So it's hardly surprising that inside all of us is a cowardly bully or bigot (often both) waiting to be liberated. In this instance, by permission of the white coat mafia. From scientists and medics who hold our lives in their hands (only because many of them just won't let go). To the head docs who tell us what and how to think and about how we feel and think, along with how to interpret whatever's left in our minds.

When you stop either auto fat phobia or the fat hatred you have for others, it usually has numerous effects-which I'd like people to discover for themselves. But I would challenge anyone, fat to thin alike to simply stop hating fatness and/or fat people-the latter is so nonsensical when you think about it. Imagine "hating" slim people(?!) It's effectively misanthropy, which means it is also self hatred.

Really bite the bullet and root this out. Systematically.

It has been said by many that fat phobia does not signal self esteem. I'd be more direct and humbly suggest that it is often a marker of low mood or even depression. And that if you stop fat phobing, you will take strain off your mood. Bring back some lost energy and that is often key to neurosis of all kinds, depression and anxiety especially.

If you excise it as completely from your mind and its functions as you can, you'll feel better not simply about yourself, you'll feel better about everything. I'd avoid setting out to "love" fat. That is, positively fetishizing fat. That often brings its own problems. It can and does sit side by side, with a virtually unchecked loathing of fatness/fat/fat people.

Its important that you stick to getting rid of any ill feeling, any over-excitation about fatness, fat and people in any aspect. Think more of a kind of acquiring of a neutral stance. Concentrate on the aim of changing the way you react emotionally and mentally to fat. Quiet your nervous system right down when you think of it, see it or hear it mentioned.

Go further than you think you need to. Fat phobia can be peskily hard to spot, until you have gotten rid of a certain amount-when more hidden depths of prejudice, surface. Often after a gap or high point of reversal. That is probably true of a lot of most, if not all prejudice.

Fat phobia is a mental drag.

Fat phobia has costs.

Do the experiment on yourself and make up your own mind.
